The MOV'n Dragons, the Mid-Ohio Valley's dragon boat team, is offering an opportunity for the public to experience dragon boating during the RTA Festival.
Excursions leave from the Broughton Boathouse, 814 Gilman Avenue, Marietta.
Paddles and lifejackets are provided. Participants are encouraged to bring a water bottle and dress for being on the water. Men and women over 18 years of age who are vaccinated are welcome. Children 12 to 18 years of age may participate with an adult chaperone.
A dragon boat is 40 feet long and can hold 20 paddlers sitting in pairs. A coach (or drummer) sits in front, and a steersperson is in the back keeping the boat on course.
Dragon Boating originated in China more than 2000 years ago and is a popular sport there to this day. The MOV'n Dragons have been boating on the Muskingum River for the past 16 years.
